Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I am looking for an Internet based “clock radio”. Will this suffice?
A. Yes, this has both an adjustable sleep timer and very flexible alarm clock. Most radio stations have some periodic ads though. You can get Pandora and set up your own custom channels for free or even subscribe to SiriusXM and enjoy their ad free classical stations. The options are plentiful.
Q. Can the LCD Display be turned off completely while listening to music?
A. Yes, there are three statuses for the display: active, inactive and standby. To have the display go dark while listening to music, go to settings/backlight settings/Inactive, and turn it down to 0. You can also have the display go to a large clock by going to settings/backlight settings/default inactive display and choose either “album art” or “large clock”.
Q. I assume as long as your router is up and running the computer can be off?
A.That is correct. The radio talks directly to the internet. There is no need for a computer.
Q. Does The Encore have HD radio?
A. The Encore does not have a built in HD module. However, the vast majority of HD radio stations rebroadcast over the internet. Hence, they are in our internet radio station database. Additionally, the many of HD stations are streamed at a higher bit rate over the internet than they are over the HD Terrestrial link.
